Notre Dame Employees Data Breach

November 21, 2009

The University of Notre Dame is warning past and current employees to keep an eye out for funny business on their bank accounts.  It accidentally made their personal information available on a publicly accessible website, resulting in a security breach.

The personal information included names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth.  The error was corrected.  It is was not revealed how many people were affected.

Well, technically, ” [University spokesman] Brown could not say how many employees were affected.”

Really?  That’s surprising.  One imagines it’s a matter of tracking down that page that was made public by accident, and counting the names.
